Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here many times when visiting Swindon, the staff are excellent and anything you require is never any trouble, the rooms are always clean and well presented and the place is perfect for visiting the town centre or the old town which are both in walking distance. I would highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm friendly smile and felt right at home. We stayed for 2 weeks in the family room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Anna-Marie went above and beyond to make sure our needs were taken care of and breakfast with was Tony very morning was wonderful, our orders were taken immediately, anything we wanted and delivered piping hot in minutes. We found The Lodge Guest House to be in the perfect quiet location, an 8 minute walk down the hill into town or a 5 minute walk up the hill to old town. We didn't have a car and found public transport a breeze with the bus and train stations being a short walk away. The room was clean, bed was comfy and free wifi was great. It was terrific having access to a fridge and microwave. Anna-Marie was wonderful and supportive in helping me deal with a family emergency and let me use her phone to call Australia when I accidentally locked myself out of my bank. Nothing was too much trouble for Tony, he was warm and receptive to all our needs including lending us huge umberellas. Overall we enjoyed the home away from home atmosphere. I hope we get to visit again as we had the most wonderful time. I highly recommend this accommodation!

Stayed at The Lodge whilst visiting my youngest son who was on a work placement. Had everything I needed, easy to get to, friendly and clean. Breakfast was lovely too. As a lone female, I felt very safe. I would definitely stay again if I was visiting. Swinton.

Had a very good stay at The Lodge, highly recommended for stays in Swindon town centre. Breakfast was very good quality with lots on offer. Room ( I had number 8) was clean and comfortable with fridge and microwave, which was perfect for evening meals, while away from home. Ann Marie is very personable and will help you to the best of her ability.

Hotel manager 1st class. Very friendly Welcoming Polite Great experience. My Room. Clean Tidy Fridge Microwave Iron + board Hairdryer Holy Bible Plates cutlery in table draw Extra pillow in cupboard Lighting was a bit poor Hallway light had some trick to it switching on so we didn't have it on. Kettle + tea coffee milk sugar Tap water in glass bottle Towels supplied 1 out of 3 single beds was comfy other 2 realistically need replacing. Wi-Fi not reachable from room signal too weak so that needs attention. Tv signal drops out quite a lot so not great. Blinds don't drop as you would expect so curtains have to be drawn for privacy. Bit pointless having them if they don't work?! Need to have some fans on the rooms airflow is always Good! I would return to this hotel and the room if beds are replaced and other stuff rectified. Without question the manager makes the stay a good experience and for what he has to work with he does a fantastic job! This hotel accepts pets which is a bonus and is near local chippy and other shops so you're not stuck! Welcome pack given when you arrive and room is checked daily. Only thing that bugged me was the unit out the back of the building making a racket at night and the fact of hearing people up an down stairs like someone banging on the ceiling. I leave pics of the bathroom as I found it quite quirky and unique! Hope this gives you a clear view of the place!

Many thanks for your review. It is always good to receive constructive criticism as it gives us areas to work on to improve the guest experience. We have assessed the beds in that room, and have now replaced the two in the twin section of the room. We have also looked at the lighting and have decided to replace the ceiling lights with spot lighting to make the room brighter. The blinds in the room are more for cosmetic appearance than privacy, but note your comments. The water softening unit timer has been reset, as we hadn't been aware it was noisy at night until your review. We have installed a dual band router to boost the wi-fi signal, and are assessing the TV issue. There is a fan in the cupboard in the room, but perhaps we should have it on display. Thank you for your favourable comments with regards to our staff, location, cleanliness and general atmosphere. We should mention for other guests information, that we accept pets in two of our rooms, on the ground floor and lower ground floor, to avoid any allergy sufferers being exposed to pet hair. Therefore, our upper two floors are not opened up to pets. I hope we will see you again in the future.

I stayed here whilst working in Swindon. As I often use chain hotels it made a pleasant change to stay in this small guest house. It was nice to receive personal service and a warm welcome which you don't get from the chains. The rooms looked like they had recently been redecorated The beds were comfortable. The rooms were clean and had plenty of storage space. The rooms are en-suite with ample bathrooms. Some of the rooms have microwaves, all have TV, kettles, drinks, toiletries and towels provided. breakfast served in the conservatory at the back of the building. The location is good between Swindon town center and Old Town around a 15 minute walk from the station There are shops, restaurants and takeaways within a few minutes walk and onsite free parking. nothing was to much for the staff my bags was carried for me Would definitely recommend and would be my first choice when in Swindon again.

It couldn't be bettered for this type of accommodation; the room was a good size, very comfortable bed!, everything I wanted thoughtfully provided. Breakfast was fabulous, really nicely cooked. The location is perfect for walking to Old Town, and the town centre isn't too far away either.
