I stayed at the George for one night and slept very well. The room was clean and nice. It is a 16th century building so it has the expected strange stairs and added parts. Very nice pubs and restaurants within 30 meters from the hotel. Restaurant Blue India across the square was very good! I noticed a few obviously regular... more

We arrived in Crawley via train about an hour before sundown. The station was only a few blocks from the hotel so we walked through a nice town shopping area. On our stroll to the hotel we noticed plenty of food shops and of course pubs to choose for a bite to eat. There is a restaurant in the hotel... more

This was the worst hotel experience we have sampled between us having travelled for many years and to many destinations. We experienced more problems in a single night stay here, than we have done at previous hotels staying for two weeks. Having originally booked directly with the hotel over the phone (which in itself appeared difficult) we arrived at the... more

My family owned this hotel from somewhere around 1795 until the 1840's. In the lobby are receipts signed by my GGGrandfather. Nobody there knows that, of course. It could have been a bit cleaner but the stay was nice both times we have been there. I recommend Crawley as a very nice place, easy access by train, close to Airport.... more

The hotel looks realy nice from the outside but not so great on the inside. I was in a single room which was tiny - the bathroom was bigger than the bedroom. My window didnt shut properly and the curtains were all ripped. In the bathroom there is a hair dryer but there was hair all attached to it. the... more

I know this hotel is cheap (£49 we paid) but I didn't think it was very nice. The reception is dingy. The first room we got was stinking of cigarettes even though we asked for a non smoking room. We asked for another room. This room was ok except for a filthy skylight in the bathroom which was dripping with... more

We stayed at this hotel as a stop off to Gatwick airport. It is well located about a 10 min walk from Crawley train station and is ideal for those wanting a stop off before flying out of Gatwick. Crawley had many great eating places and I would particuarly recommend the indian just accross the street. The rooms were large... more

No Need to leave your house at 2am to get to Gatwick, better go the night before and stay at the George hotel. The hotel is about 5 - 10 mins by train to Gatwick Airport. The train Station being a short walk to the Hotel. Don't think of the reception and teh corridor carpet being representative of the hotel.... more

Having read all the reviews of The George and also having stayed there on several occasions, I must say that I have not had a negative experience there. It is what it is - a cheap night, near to Gatwick for when you are passing through. I have found small things wrong with the rooms (last time, the loo roll... more

Stayed here during stopover at Gatwick Airport. A fair standard hotel for the price. Located in the centre of Crawley and surrounded by shopping streets, restaurants, cars etc. Reception was courteous and efficient, room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. A 10 minute taxi drive from Gatwick and a complimentary hotel car for the return journey made everything... more
