Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
What a lovely hotel this is. The staff are all amazing from the front desk to the bar staff, housekeeping etc. they were all very helpful and friendly at all times. We stayed here to attend a concert and we couldn’t have chosen a better hotel to stay in. We didn’t eat in the hotel but the menu looked very nice. We did have a few drinks in the bar area and found the barman very knowledgeable. I have to say that I don’t usually sleep well in hotels but I slept so well in this one that I nearly slept in in the morning!!!I stayed in room 120 and the room was very clean. The bedding was very comfy as was the bed. There was an iron and hairdryer available to use. If I had one negative to mention about the room it would be that the bathroom was on the small side but that wouldn’t stop me from staying here again. Lovely stay, thank you.

I had a late check in due to work. I finally arrived just after midnight. My room card was given on the 3rd floor and off I went to the lift. I arrived at my room and the key card wouldn’t work. I went back to the lift and back down to reception where I explained it didn’t work. I asked if I was a tap one or insert one? The lady said “insert” but there was no where to insert it! I was then told that the locks were being up graded and given a new key card which was a ‘tap’ one. Off I went back to the lift, up to the 3rd floor, and success, the card worked… only to find someone else in the room! By this time I was getting a little frustrated, back to reception!! I explained the situation and the lady apologised and assigned me a different room. She came with me and this time the door opened and this time there was nobody in the room! Hurrah! I walked in and it was freezing! The window had been left open. I closed the window and as I was closing the blind the curtain rail fell down on me! The final straw was walking into the bathroom to find a polar bear in the corner shivering! No shower for me, it was Baltic! Sorry Bolton, but never again! One good thing against the whole disaster, the bed was very comfortable.

Another great stay at this convenient hotel. Nadea on reception was very welcoming from the moment I arrived, asked me lots of questions and we chatted about our day so far. Room was perfect for the price with all the usual facilities and all in a room that had been recently refurbished. Breakfast was fine too and my eggs were cooked just as I like them, poached and no vinegar! The service at this hotel is always above what I’d expect and the personal touch goes a long way. Thank you.

Lisa on reception was so friendly and even gave me a tour of the Cloisters which was such an added bonus. She was so helpful when our key stopped working (mobile phone issue apparently!) and was genuinely warm and friendly, she’s made my visit! We were here to see Northanger Abbey at the Octagon Theatre, great walking distance and Bolton looked stunning at night. The play was brilliant too, so funny, fast, clever and a bit like Downton Abbey x Monty Python! A really good night out!

This hotel has always been on my go-to lit when visiting family in Bolton, not any more. They have started charging £5.00 a night for parking. The hotel is absolutely surrounded by street with parking restriction on each carriageway. Other reason to stay away: New bathrooms are very small. Seating in the room is awful.
