I stayed at this hotel in September for a family party. I arrived at 2.15pm, waited until 2.25pm for a receptionist to appear. When he did (I later discovered he was the manager) he insisted that we could not check in until 2.30pm and we had to go away and come back in 5 minutes!!! When we came back, he... more

This is a no frills budget hotel but not the best of the chain. The reception area is cramped, slightly smelly and very scruffy although the satff were helpful enough. I was staying with my wife and eldest daughter and the pull out bed had a large stain in the centre - not nice at all. The bathroom and room... more

Stayed for one night as we had an early ferry to catch for the Isle of Wight the next day, room was OK, not up to usual Travelodge standards and the Bathroom floor needed a good clean. Receptionist was helpful. Good Pub next door which sold food, but no Breakfast and no cafe on site either, so take your own... more

We were very worried after reading other reviews on this site, however, our whole experience was very good. We were on a family trip so our experience spans the three rooms that we had booked. Staff on the desk were more than charming, taking time to chat when we booked in and out. Rooms were a little chilly but heater... more

I have stayed in many hotels all over the World. Even in developing countries the standard has been far better than this. The three worst hotels I have ever stayed in are Travelodges, Covent Garden, Gatwick Airport and this one. So, three strikes and you are out. The positive reviews that have been submitted about this hotel, must have been... more

Was a little worried after reading some of the earlier reviews but my fears were misplaced. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly when checking in. The room was good, basic but clean, had all tea making facilities etc. The rates were excellent and location was very central for us on our short trip in the area. Mike O'Shea, Ireland more

Wanted to leave after 10 mins in the room but couldn't as the whole of Basingstoke was booked out. Windows hadn't been cleaned in ages - room facilities very basic. Needed a table but there was none even though a very large space in the corner which looked like the place it should have been. Mouldy bathroom and no nice... more

With such a mixed bag of reviews I rather nervously booked on line. Arrived to be welcomed by a charming receptionist; room on first floor was spacious and clean, ample tea and coffee, spotless bathroom, comfortable bed and all for £49.00. Checkout was simply a case of handing back the key but the morning receptionist went out of his way... more

My husband and I were completly stuck after driving back from Cornwell and unable to find a hotel to stay in, One room was available which had come back online by chance so we took it. When we arrived the receptionist was fantastic, very helpful, obliging and great fun. This place may be a little worn around the seams, but... more

There must have been something pretty big happening in Basingstoke that night as everywhere that rated higher than this in Basingstoke (except the Apollo which I've already 'experienced' and reviewed on TripAdvisor) was full, so as a last resort I booked in for one night here for an early next day assignment. I've never been in prison but I'd guess... more
