We only stayed here because it was the nearest hotel to the venue for a party in Tadley. We wished we hadn't bothered. I have never been anywhere like it and it's such a shame because with a complete renovation it could be wonderful. First off the room we were allocated was a great size but it hadn't been refurbished... more

I booked a room at Romans as I was attending a wedding at the nearby Silchester House - it is the recomended accom by them! On arrival, I was told I was not in the main hotel but in a block round the back. I went up to my room, which was up a tatty old and very threadbare carpet... more

We booked a room here as we were attending a wedding nearby and really just needed a comfortable clean bed for the night, the first room we were given was a joke, it was in the annex and dirty with old furniture and a tiny saggy bed, the room had paper thin walls and certainly had not be refurbished for... more

We ended up stuck in an annexe with paper-thin walls, bad decor and a really shabby selection of TV channels. The room was as small as a double could be & the bathroom was like something from Butlins in the 40s (shampoo OK though). The breakfast service & food were poor. On the plus side it is fantastically located for... more

I got married here in June 2004 and wanted something that didn't feel like we were just another wedding on their list for the summer. The setting was so personal with all it's rooms to use for different things. A disco room, games room and also a lounge for the older quieter guests. Everyone was catered for and there was... more

I was anxious because of some poor reviews but I found Romans to be excellent. The room was wonderful, the food was quite excellent - beautifully cooked and well presented. The young waitresses were inexperienced but very attentive. I suspect some of the earlier reviews are malicious - the staff and the hotel were beyond expectation - will certainly return. more

As a professional sales engineer working for a "Blue Chip" company and staying in many hotels through out a large part of UK & Southern Ireland I expect a room at £105 de-luxe version to be good , how wrong especially when the receipt for my deposit made ref to Best Western Group!. The hotels reception sevice was very good... more

Where to start!!!! Starting on a good foot the staff were very polite and helpfull. But Flogging a dead horse is only the begining. Food and Grounds are excellent and nice leisure facilities. I woud not even put my dog in the room we had. We stayed as another member stated in the hospital block. Like a museum peice. I... more

Stayed at hotel after going to a wedding in silchester house over the road. I didn't get to stay in the nice old house, instead they put me in the block right next to the old house. The block doesn't look lovely 19th century like the house, rather 1980s hospital ward style in my view (you don't see this on... more

At £95 per night i was expecting something quite upmarket and looking forward to my overnight stay. At first i was offered a room in the Annexe courtyard. This was small and darkly decorated. The decor was clearly worn and when i sat on the bed it bottomed out on to a hard base! I went back to reception and... more
