We booked several nights at the Travelodge at Milton Keynes Old Stratford so that we could stay there with our son while he was studying for an exam. We required an extra chair so that two of us could sit at the desk at the same time. A receptionist was very helpful and gave us a chair from another room. When we came back in the evening, the manager said that we would have to give it back the next day, because they were full and every room had to have a chair. She kept using the word "obviously" as if I was stupid. I asked whether she had any other chair, such as an office chair or just a chair lying about somewhere that we could have in the room. Repeatedly saying the word "obviously", she said it would be against "health and safety" and "the regulations" to put another chair in the room, and finished by saying that if she did, and our son fell off it, I would complain.
