The staff were amazing both at reception and behind the bar. We stayed just the one night due to us visiting a friend for birthday celebrations. We loved the bathroom (clean and large) and the bed was really comfortable. We stayed in room 201 and it was definately haunted. If you get the pleasure of staying in this room, look... more

Room was spacious with good standard of cleanliness. Did not have an evening meal but the bar was very busy with people eating. The breakfast was served in the bar and was very good value for money. I have paid much more for a lower standard of accommodation elsewhere. more

I hadn't stayed at a Wetherspoon's lodge before but my colleague had actually stayed in this one before and told me about it. but even so I was surprised at the actual building itself and the room finish (although the size was a different matter). We paid £40 for our rooms, which is pretty cheap for a high street location,... more

When I booked this room I was told that is was a newly refurbished room for the disabled. IT IS NOT. I have to use a wheelchair, most of the time. On opening the door to the room it would be impossible to get the chair round the furniture to get to the bathroom, without removing chairs and moving a... more

I arrived for a family visit intending to only stay 3 nights and wound up staying a week. The rooms are lovely - views over the river, TV, desk, coffee maker, ironing board. No problem with the lighting that I could see. To get to my room I passed through a restored medieval hall with paintings on the walls. The... more

I stayed here whilst attending a wedding nearby. All the staff I met were friendly and hlepful but the room was so dark it was difficult to see properly and read, particularty as one of the lights was broken and no-one could fix it. The worst part, however, was the temperature within the room which was unbearably hot (and stuffy)... more

Yes the room was dark but this just added to the ambiance. Very clean, modern decor, bathroom modern and new, TV, tea/coffee AND biscuits, hair dryer, iron and ironing board - what more could you ask for. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. From our bed we could see the tower of the Abbey (118). Yes there was... more
