Being an American who had minimal European travel experience, I was at first surprised at the room's simplicity. However, the room was clean, the sheets were fresh, the mattress firm, and the bathroom sparkling...every night that I was there. And the reality was I didn't travel over 3000 miles to sit in a room. The Danum is within a stone's... more

We only stayed one night, on our arrival found the girl on reception Emma to be very helpful indeed ringing for cabs checking addressses of various restaurants etc.. The young duty manager was also very attentive, the room was clean and more than adequate. Quite noisy but only to be expected in the middle of town on a Saturday night.... more

Its an old hotel so dont expect modern rooms but we had everything from extra pillows and blankets to quality shower wash, it was very comfortable, the food was very good and so was the service, reasonable prices for food and drink. I would reccomend arriving early to get a parking place, and i would stay here again, perhaps for... more

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Staff were rude, unhelpful and thoroughly disorganised. Someone had vomited in my room before I checked in, which had not been cleaned properly and smelled horrendous. I couldn't be moved as the hotel was fully booked. The location was awful - I stayed over a weekend and the room overlooked an... more

Id like to start by stating that I was not looking forward to stopping at the Danum after reading the reviews on this sight. (Nasty) However I was pleasently suprised. The reception was impressive and the bar was nice (the evening entertainment was second to none - ideal for my needs). The room was clean and the towels were spotless,... more

Before I start I would like to clarify that I have stayed in Marriotts/Hiltons/Premier Inns?holidays Inns across the world so listen to this review......... I was travelling as part of a stag do (not drunken skin head yobs). The location cannot be beaten it is on the doorstep of the bars, so ideal if thats what you want but a... more

This hotel was very noisy. I had to sleep with the windows closed. The heat in my room was intolerable. Other Guests came to their rooms at 2 in the morning and woke me with their drunken racket. Yobs were having drunken brawls out side. I parked in the tiny car park but when I wanted to go out in... more

Stayed here on business last may,Broken lock on door, no hot water, mold growing on wall. Management was more like Faulty Towers, meets David Brent from the office. This looks from the outside like a decent hotel, but the rooms would not even make it to a DSS doss house. After having no hot water for the duration of the... more

Don't be fooled by the classy modern style of the restraunt on the ground floor. My sister and I stayed in room 230 as part of a 30 group hen night. The first thing we noticed when we entered te room was the strong foisty smell but we didnt really mind as most hotels do usually have a little bit... more
