As a person who does not plan trips ahead, I usually book online just before I leave home and the Brittania nearly has good roomsat a very good rate. I always stay there on visits to leisure visits to Manchester and have no complaints. Although some of the budget rooms can be a little noisy, I have never been awoken... More

I like to think of myself as a reasonable person and find that most people are generally too fussy/expect too much without paying for it etc.. Therefore I read the reviews and made the decision to stay here regardless... What a BIG mistake!!!! Most of the negative things mentioned in other reviews are spot on I'm afraid to say -... More

This hotel was probably quite spectacular in the 1980's when it was opened and last decorated but unfortunately it is badly in need of a facelift. Our flight was delayed so we were late in arriving at the hotel which im sure is not uncommon. When we got to the room we discovered it was in fact a smoking room!... More

What a disgrace to our wonderful city this hotel is. My room was very dated (dirty walls, threadbare carpets, old CRT tv), dirty and smelt like an ashtray. I'm relatively well travelled and have stayed in budget hotels around the world inlcuding Africa, South America and Asia. Without exception this has to be the most unpleasant hotel I've ever stayed... More

Stayed for the weekend of 3rd feb. Very tired and dated accommodation. Terrible smell of damp in our room. droplets of water on surfaces from the damp. Food was not good. Central location is the only plus for this hotel. Would I stay again, nope More

Hi my Husband and myself stayed here on 3rd Feb for one night. We stayed in an executive room no 315 the room was mostly fine however we did find a blood stain on the duvet which was not in a cover but sandwiched between two flat sheets!! the room was otherwise clean and in good condition, but the bathroom... this was the first and last time I stayed at the Brittania. For the money I expected a lot more but quite frankly what I got was a very tired, shabby Victorian building badly in need of major investment. The reception was very impressive with the huge chandelier and open stairs but it is the rooms that tell the tale.... More
