Arrived at hotel to find that it had closed down two weeks previously! I had no warning from Hotels.com (who I booked it through) or the hotel itself so had to find alternative accommodation. Terrible! more

This hotel surprised me after reading such bad reviews! My Single room was very clean, modern, had en-siute b/room. All staff inc. the Manger coulndn't do enough for me throughout my stay! My room no 19 looked onto the bars next door, Selfridges and the Manchester Wheel. Noisy at night but thats summer for you! 5 Star Service! more

Perfect hotel for a night out in town, no taxi required and a lot more character than a bland Travelodge. Staff really lovely and helpful. Our room (20a) had the most amazing view over the Oyster Bar with the Manchester Wheel behind. It is a historic hotel so you do get sloping floors and rattling bannisters but that all adds... more

We booked just to stay overnight, but when we arrived our room had been flooded (in hindsight a blessing in disguise!!) We were offered room 22 - without a lift this entailed a climb of about 5 flights of stairs, wobbly bannisters and rabbit warren layout!!! not for the faint hearted, weak- kneeded, heart problems, vertigo or otherwise (or those... more

Stayed here back in March so knew what to expect. Yes the hotel is very run down and the rooms are no different. However the bedlinen was clean and everything in the room worked (tv, shower, toilet) My biggest gripe is that the bar is crap! they had hardly any drinks and the draft beers & cider had run out... more

Ok from the walk up it resembles something run by Norman Bates but inside it's actually not too bad at all, so long as you're not expecting luxury. It's in a good location however, Printworks, Arndale, Victoria Station and of course the MEN Arena is on its doorstep. The Mitre wouldn't be our first port of call for Manchester, but... more
