An pretty basic review for a fairly basic hotel. An okay welcome on arrival, although it would have been nice to be told that there was a wedding reception being held on the night we were staying. (I doubt this was last minute) A decent sized room, nice bathroom but some slightly dodgy stains on the bed cover (one faded... more

Thank-you for your comments. We are currently starting a programme of re-furbishments throughout the hotel, and I trust that many of the points you have raised will be tackled at this point. Again, thank-you for your interest and time taken fo the review. Karl Sharman

We got married at the Old Rectory on Saturday and there was absolutely nothing that the staff would not do for us to make our day wonderful. Right from the first visit when the manager made us feel totally at home, to the fact that they helped us clear away and store all manner of wedding junk at the place,... more

What an awful place is my first and abiding reaction. I have tried and failed to locate one single redeeming feature and cannot. I selected this hotel for the location and ignored negative reviews as they were a little dated, my thinking was that the management (is there one ?) would have responded and resolved the many issues. My only... more

I stayed at this hotel on business and I must say it was a real pleasure. It took me a while to find the hotel as it is quite tucked away but upon arriving myself and my business partner were checked in promptly and professionally. We both had nice size clean rooms which had good refreshment facilities available and were... more

Really rubbish. I cancelled my accommodation because of change of plan and the hotel agreed not to charge me as per their cancellation policy. However they did charge me and after 3 attempts so far to ask for a refund to my card which they said they would they still haven't done so. Terrible service and uncaring attitude. Don't go... more

Quite honestly, this was the worst hotel that I have every stayed in, in my entire life. And it wasn't exactly cheap either. There was a wedding reception on that night, which kept us awake until after midnight. The walls and the doors were paper thin, meaning that I was disturbed all night by drunk hotel visitors going in and... more

Have stayed here before (it's a location thing) - this time things were much better than before. Had a fairly recently refurbished room with updated and tasteful bathroom. Room and bathroom were clean. Tea and coffee facils OK. Room wasn't huge, but adequate for overnight stay. Breakfast cooked to order and OK. Def better than staying at a Travelodge/Premierlodge -... more
