Booked this hotel through booking.com summer 2023 as advertised as a good price. Turns out this hotel closed in November 2022. Only found out after I contacted Holiday Inn when I received a scam message via messager on booking.com. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL !!!!

I accompanied a severely disabled guest and the staff could not have been more genuinely friendly and helpful. They ensured that his stay, from initial phone enquiry to final departure, was relaxed and enjoyable and we are immensely grateful. 5 star service. Excellent.

Excellent Staff, the lovely Miki on reception and her colleague Avelina were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them and my booking was complex. I was there for 6 days. Cannot praise the Location and hotel more highly. I will return soon.

Food is incredibly limited here and lots of options not even available from the five or six in the selection. Wi-Fi also doesn’t work on first floor although seems ok on other floors. Rooms partially cleaned every day but cleaning seems to be a bit bit and miss. Would I recommend going here. No for any long stays as the beds are uncomfortable and because of the limited menu. All in all better options available.

I would like to apologize for the connectivity of our Wi-Fi, the limited food options and the comfort of our bed. This is not what we want any of our guests to encounter. Room was OK, very basic. Could possibly do we a little refurbishment, little dated. It was clean and bed was comfortable. You will need to get a taxi if visiting City. Breakfast was OK, but there is a wide choice of hot or cold. 11am checkout which is handy.

A satisfactory hotel. Whilst the room was generally OK, the view from the small window was awful. Had a view of a facing wall with air conditioning units, couldn’t see the sky. Whilst it was a sunny day with blue sky the room was dark! If you do book this hotel just ensure you don’t check into room number 103. The staff are very friendly!

We arrived at 1 am and we’re greeted by the night security man who checked us in. He was friendly and polite and a pleasure to deal with. The room was average -clean but had a very musty smell and the carpets were a bit gross. The corridors are very dated and knocked about. Our room was kind of serviced but pillows were left on the floor and bed not made properly. The hotel needs updating but for a short stay it was adequate. Good Wi-Fi, breakfast okay and staff pleasant. On a bus route so easy to get into the city. Would probably not stay again unless they renovate.

I stayed here midweek on business and I stay in Holiday Inn all over UK, Woke up around 12 , room doors banging , one then another then another , people going from one room to another on the landing talking non stop , then floor above sounded like someone was walking with planks tied to their feet. I do not know what material this hotel was made of but you hear every bang, every step and it’s now 1.30 and I’m still awake! , and tomorrow I have 180 mile drive home, I wish I had read reviews before booking as I would have booked elsewhere but you expect Holiday Inn to be good where ever you go

Me and my partner got a room here as it was the cheapest option at around £280 (we were staying over for the Harry Styles concert) The location was on the outskirts of the city centre, which wasn't too bad. There was a tram stop just up from the hotel which was a 5-10 minute walk. Taxi's/Uber's could find the hotel easily enough too. The room itself wasn't too bad. It was a bit bigger than we were expecting. The bed was super comfy and big. Our ensuite was tidy and clean. The bath was a little small, but we are fat so this is probably an us issue than anything else. The shower pressure was incredible, which we weren't expecting. Very powerful. The water as well, once you ran it hot, was HOT. It didn't need heating up, it just was hot, even if you ran it from cold. Again, the pressure from the bath tap was incredible. The downside about the room was the air conditioning did not work. We informed reception about this. who informed us they would reset it so it would work again. A couple of hours later, it still wasn't sorted so we asked again and was told that it sounded like the reset hadn't been successful. We were then given a stand alone fan as an alternative. It was okay, but the air con would have been a lot better. Another downside was that our window didn't open at all. We were only on the second floor and it was quite stuffy then, so I can only imagine how others must have felt further up. We dined in the restaraunt a couple of times whilst there. On our first night, we ended up having to order something from the bar as we got back at about 1am. We ordered some flatbread pizzas, which were burnt and and dry. It came with 'salad' which at this point consisted of 1 small piece of lettuce and a half of a tomato. These cost us £12.50 each, which wasn't impressive. The second night, we had the special of the gammon and chips, which redeemed themselves. Our last night I tried the flatbread pizza again, which was a lot less burnt and actually tasted more edible. I wasn't given a pizza cutter as I expected I would be, so had to use my knife and fork to cut my pizza up (an incredibly minor thing, I understand). We paid nearly £10 extra each for the breakfast on our last day, which considering we paid nearly £300 for a budget hotel, would be included as standard, but the quality of the food wasn't anything to complain about. A £5 charge for the parking each day as well seemed a bit expensive. The service experienced by the staff varied a lot - there were many times that we were left waiting at the reception area and there was no way to get anybody's attention (ie. by a buzzer or a bell) which wasn't ideal. Some of the staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough to help (I can't remember any specific names as such, apart from Jodie who served us for breakfast and Darren a trainee) but unfortunately, most of the staff just seemed a bit disinterested and couldn't be bothered to help. All in all, it wasn't a particularly bad stay, just that it wasn't the best. I wouldn't look to stay again, but if you are looking for a hotel to stay for a night or 2, I wouldn't not recommend it.

Apart from the lady at reception who didnt seem too interested in me on my arrival, the hotel was fine. I had a main course and a beer in the restaurant area, where the bar / waiting staff were helpful & friendly. Food was delivered quickly, which was hot & tasty with no issues. Room was a good size, clean & tidy, with adequate facilties for my stay. Request a room not facing on to the main road, as it starts to get noisy with traffic early in the morning.
