My wife and I spent three nights at the Acanthe. The location is excellent, near major sights and close to the river. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but clean and more than adequate. We loved Bordeaux and the Acanthe added to our pleasurable experience. more

We stayed at Acanthe Hotel in Bordeaux for one night. We paid 66 Euros per night and I guess I’d say its worth it. It hard for me to judge because it’s the only proper “hotel” we stayed at in France other than in Paris – the rest of the time we stayed at B&Bs. By US standards, I’d price... more

We stayed here for one night of our honeymoon mainly to eat at La Tupina restaurant. As mentioned on this site the room was basic but the hotel is very well situated and the man on the front desk was charm itself. The main drawback was roadworks right outside our bedroom window which started early and were ridiculously loud! more

I'm giving this hotel five stars. It was cheap, great location, friendly, clean, efficient, and perfect for a night in Bordeaux. It's what all two star hotels should hope to be. The rooms have recently been remodeled and the top two floors were closed for renovations. The beds were comfortable as well as the pillows. I'll come back if I... more

Fab location - very central & reasonably priced. Lovely square behind the hotel - with restaraunts and bars. Photos on hotel's website are misleading - not as nice - needs a makeover. Therefore would not recommend to anyone who likes spending time in their rooms. However - it is very clean, staff are very nice & I would stay there... more

The Acanthe Hotel was great! We had three people in our party and stayed in room #1. The balcony was awesome and the room was very large. Staff was very friendly even with the language barrier. Would stay there again in a heart beat. Location was great and we were able to pretty much walk to all of the sights... more

This was the cheapest hotel we stayed at on our 6 week trip through Europe and was by no means the worst. We had a good sized room with an ensuite shower. Very basic standard and pretty dated but for the price we paid, we had nothing to complain about. The location is fantastic - half way between a tram... more

I stayed there during Easter holidays, with my wife and a couple of friends, with our children. We got 3 rooms in the top floor (including room 19 for 3 girls- from 12 to 14 years old). Location is very good close to the shopping area. There were many restaurants at walk distance. We travelled by car, and we parked... more

If you do want to stay here (the location is it's best asset) then whatever you do, do not accept the disgusting room 19 on the top floor. Firstly, even if you are only 2 people they charge an extra 10 - 12 euros because it's a twin not a double. Secondly, it has the following: it's dusty, it has... more

My sister and baby niece and I stayed at the Acanthe -- nice room, comfortable bed, kind proprietors (bilingual French/English...maybe other languages too?), and oh my goodness it was a good deal. Left us plenty of spending money to wander up the street to the many lovely pedestrian streets and do a little shopping, eating, people watching...highly recommended. It's not... more
