We decided to spend Christmas in Biarritz and wanted to treat ourselves to a hotel that was more up market than a Mercure. What a mistake!! The rooms featured on their web site were certainly not offered to us athough we paid for a superior room. The carpets were dirty, the chairs had cigarrette burns in them and the bed...

Stayed with my wife and children. Booked a family room however when we checked in we found that there was only one bed in the room. The room was fine although not a family room as described. The hotel in general had a very old feel about it with a musty smell throughout. We did not eat at the hotel...

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, I've stayed at better 2 star. There are no facilities here, unless you can count the 5 Euro for 15 minutes on the Internet, the computer being in a cupboard. The breakfast buffet is disgusting AND was usually empty, so we had to wait at least 15 minutes for it to come...

Although with no ocean view, the hotel is located just down the block from an amazing break – perfect if you want to go surfing in the morning; easy to walk from the hotel to the beach with a heavy board. Note that the nearest break is at Grand Plage, which can get somewhat gnarly at 5 ft. or above....

We are just back from our stay in the tonic hotel and we had a lovely stay. The rooms are quite small but tastefully decorated. Who needs a big room in Biarritz its such a beautiful city. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and pointed us in the right direction of restaurants etc. We will definitely reccommend this hotel...

I stayed in Tonic Hotel for 3 nights during July 2008 and I have to say that 4 stars is too much for this hotel. I have stayed in 3-star hotels in France that would put Tonic to shame. Breakfast was good, rooms were a bit small on the second floor (where I was staying), and "lost items" unfortunately were...

In any other place and according to general hotel standards the Tonic should not be valued higher than a 2-star. Although I had been booked by a high ranking French company - as their guest -I got a room that seemed not to have been renovated since the
hotel was built. It was muggy, worn, lamps did not work, had...

Just back from staying for a week in Tonic. It's just been fully refitted to a good standard. There was still some work going on last week and could be noisey in the morning, but I'd imagine the work should be completed very soon. It's in a great location, 1 min from the beach. Only down side was breakfast cost...

Our money was stolen from our room at the Tonic Hotel. This hotel does not deserve even a 1-star rating, is scummy and unsafe.
