Most folks visiting the Dordogne area whiz by Bergerac on the way east to Sarlat and small villages by the river near Sarlat. After long flights from Miami-Chicago-Paris-Bordeaux my wife and I picked up our rental car in Bordeaux and stayed two nights in Bergerac which we used as a base for the Cadouin Abbey, the Bastide town of Monpazier, and the Chateaux Monbazillac to purchase (and drink) its marvelous sweet wine. In Bergerac we stayed at the B&B Le Logis Plantagenet a centuries old restored 3 room property owned by a lovely British couple, Bruce and Rosetta. The rooms are in a separate building immediately behind the owner's residence. We had the top floor room which was quite spacious, for a B&B in France, with beamed ceiling, skylights, and even a partial view of the Dordogne river which faces the owners residence and quay to the front of their building .
