Our troubles with the Hotel La Riviere started as soon as we opened the door to our room and the a stench of raw sewage hit us. After leaving the bathroom door closed for some time the room was somewhat more tolerable, although being in the bathroom was very unpleasant. Luckily we only planned on staying one night because the next morning it got worse. At exactly 10am (the check-out time) when my boyfriend was getting dressed and I was just finishing our packing to leave, the cleaning lady (who knew we were still in the room) used her key to barge in on us without knocking. I tried to say "Please wait!" while my boyfriend was getting his pants on but she raised her voice at me and said that it was time for us to leave. It was incredibly rude and in all my travels I've never had an experience like this before. And our troubles didn't end there.
