A great find! Travelling from south to north, we found Chateau La Rigon outside of Vichy in the early evening with no reservation. We were warmly welcomed, given a comfortable room with 3 twin beds (needed 2), at no extra charge, and relaxed in the large, covered swimming pool, with a hillside view on the large estate. Nice breakfast, very pleasant staff, and a location close to town, but far away enough to be out of the hustle. A 2-star hotel, it could be 3, but has some age on it. Still, very charming. I would return.
