We (two couples) were doing a tour of Burgundy, and had arranged by email to stay two nights at Les Tilleuls. We chose this Hotel (using Trip Advisor) as it was not outrageously priced, close to the town of Auxerre, and to the wine producing areas of Chablis and Irancy. We arrived by bicycle at 2:30 pm on a beautiful sunny afternoon, having had no luck finding a restaurant to our liking in the course of our ride through this rural area. The kindly chef/proprietor explained to us that all restaurants in the region close at 2 pm. Seeing our disappointment, he asked us if we like cheese and pate.... more
