We stayed here on our way down to Spain. Booked two double rooms at the newly decorated part of hotel. Clean but without any ambience. Very dangerous rugs on tiled floor, (beware). Receptionist/Maitre'd, cold and unfriendly. Bar and restaurant out of date and no atmosphere. Food overcooked and overpriced. Would not go back. more

Stayed here on a Friday night after playing golf at Les Bordes, about 5km away (very good indeed, by the way). Good, efficient, charming and friendly check-in. We stayed here in late June for one night on the journey south. Convenient for the autoroute, pretty town and friendly staff. The room was plain and old fashioned but clean and fine. We had an amazing prix fixe lunch here while staying in Beaugency. There were several price levels to chose from which ranged from about 19-25 euros per person for a fabulous 3 course meal. The terrine was superb, and go for the cheese plate. The place is really charming and has great attentive service. more

The L'Ecu de Bretagne was recommended in a guidebook about the Loire Valley, and the guidebook was right.
