I was a little apprehensive about staying in a hostel since I had my laptop along. I contacted Patricia at the hostel and she told me there would be a locker. It turned out to be a very nice locker, made to hang clothing in and with several shelves and very secure key. Why am I raving about a locker? It turned out to be like everything else in this hostel, well thought out, well run.
The other review mentioned distance to the train station, it is indeed about a 15-min (or slightly more) walk. It is very clearly marked with signs (all except at the last hill; use the address there to indicate that one goes up).
So I had a great stay in Chartres and this hostel played a big role in that. You can hear the bells of the cathedral and get a great view of it from the common area (blocked from my room by a tree, I suspect some of the other rooms have a good view). more
