Simple, clean, and affordable (39 Euros). If you are in Chartres to visit the cathedral, this is *the* place to stay. If driving, make sure you know how to get there in advance, though... I spent an hour or so driving the streets trying to figure out how to get into the compound. more
Can't imagine a better place to stay in Chartres. Right next to the cathedral (and I mean RIGHT NEXT to it!) Has its own private car park. Tthat's amazing considering no cars are allowed in the centre now - you feel really privelliged! And on departure day, you can leave your car, spend time in the cathedral and the centre... more
The town of Chartres, while charming in itself - the old town, that is - is known for its most wonderful cathedral and in my opinion, the primary reason to visit. Maison St Yves Hotellerie is run by the church and is literally about 50m from the cathedral, located on a city wall with great views out into the countryside... more
Maison St. Yves, along with its nearby cafeteria, is owned and operated by the local Catholic Diocese, mostly as a conference center, but it does take tourists like us.
