The chateau domaine de la tortiniere is a peacefull and charming 19e century manor in a fifteen acres park, overlooking the landscape and the Indre River. The 30 rooms are in the chateau itself and in the neighbouring outhouses older than the chateau itself and are all decorated with lovely fabrics and antique furniture. the restaurant offers a refined cuisined served either in the old orangerie of the chateau or on the terrace. The hotel is located 10 km south of tours not far from motorway a10 from Paris and is ideal for tourism in the Loire Valley: right in the heart of the Loire Valley. more » « less

We stayed here for our final night of a 2 week touring holiday in France. What a great end to our holidays, and a stay that we will remember for some time. Although we booked the cheapest room, we still had a small balcony, a wondeful bathroom and comfortable room. We particularly enjoyed our evening dining at the restaurant which... more

Our family of 3 (2 adults and daughter, aged 8) stayed here for a week. We would definitely have liked to stay longer, it was amazing. The staff were wonderful, the rooms extremely comfy, and the parklike surroundings.............I could go on but won't! Suffice to say, it was awesome. Not the cheapest hotel in the Loire valley, but definitely worth saving... more

We were fortunate enough to spend one night on our recent honeymoon. We called while travelling through the Loire Valley and were able to book one night. What a treat! We had looked forward to staying in one "castle" on our trip and it worked so perfectly. Our entire stay was incredible from start to finish. Every review is absolutely... more

Fabulous looking chateau with beautiful surrounds. Lots of activities to do - swimming, walking on the grounds, rowing the boat down the river etc. Warm and friendly staff. Lovely clean and tastefully decorated room. Complimentry apperitif in room, mini bar. Had our best meal in France in the restaurant - may be considered expensive by some but well worth it... more

We have just returned from a five week holiday in Europe and one of the highlights of the trip was our four night stay at this Chateau / Hotel. I have never bothered to write a review prior to this but my family and I are so impressed with this property that felt compelled to do so. We arrived a... more

We stayed here in a suite with 3 children (5 years down to 8 weeks) for 3 days in March 2008. I can confirm what all the other reviews say about the levels of service and the hotel itself. The staff are excellent without being overbearing and there is a friendly feeling from the front desk, through the owners, the... more

This place is enchanting, I can only imagine how beautiful and captivating it must be in the summer time when the weather is warm and flowers are in bloom for visitors to sit outside and enjoy the view. It's in a great location close to the main road, just less than 10 minutes away by car from all the restaurant... more

The highlight of our three week Europe trip was a two night stay in this wonderful chateaux in the Loire Valley. What a wonderfully romantic place to have a couple of days peace and quiet, walking through the grounds and watching the sunrise in the morning from the first floor balcony. Strongly recommend you pay the extra to make sure... more

Travelled with our two young children in August. Grounds are very pretty. Staff were very helpful and accomidating. Very good restaurant. Very good breakfast which they will serve in your room. Beautiful views from the main chateau of the Loire valley. Very good location. 10 mins from Tours, 20 mins to Amboise, 20 mins to Chenonceau. On the down side,... more

We stayed at Tortiniere for 3 nights in August 2007. Although many reviews say the place is good for kids, it is probably good for teenagers and not young kids. Grounds are beautiful. Dining at the terrace is really relaxing. Great views. However, they do request you to dress up a bit for dinner. Little did we know. We just... more
