Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our room was OK. The air conditioner was very weak and the shower tiles could be replaced. They looked kind of grungy. The location is perfect for travel to CDG and Orly via the RER as Gare du Nord is only a 15 minute walk away and is on the RER line. I'm confused about the breakfast. Some photos on tripadvisor show eggs, jam, and yoghurt. In September 2023 we were offered either a croissant or a pain au chocolat and either coffee or juice. We were finished breakfast in just a few seconds as it doesn't take that long to eat a croissant and drink a small glass of juice. The juice was fresh squeezed, so that was nice.

This is a favorite! So nice decorated hotel with few rooms. Situated just next to the St Martin Canal. All rooms have view to the canal and you will see boats sluice. The room was modern and low key stylish, but soon there is time for some minor renovations. A lovely lady checked us in, and nice man checked us out. They were very informative, positive and helpful. The other days the staff was younger boys/students, and you felt like you bothered them by just asking to get your prepaid breakfast or asking about checkout time – not unfriendly and did what they were supposed to do. Breakfast was great with bread, yoghurt with granola, French pastries etc. Will return!

Rooms are on the small side (no space to set up my TRX), but well-designed. Not much lounge space in the room, but the ground floor cafe is a great space to grab a cup of coffee, work on a laptop, or just hangout and watch Parisian life go by on the Quay de Jemmapes. The staff are super kind and helpful. The neighborhood is full of interesting cafes and shops. You’re about a 30 minute walk from the Louvre, the Marais, Les Halles, 20 minutes to the park at Buttes-Chaumond. 15 minute walk to the Gare du Nord. And yet, in spite of its convenient location it never feels as though you’re in the middle of tourist Paris. Instead, you’re amongst French people doing French people things. The only downside is that it can be somewhat loud on the canal late at night but it never caused me to lose sleep. And the hotel provides earplugs. Can’t wait to come back!

Came here almost 10 years ago with my family and loved it so much that I wanted to return. It isn't quite as nice now and I don't know if I would've splurged knowing this, but we still had a great time. From the reviews I've read it seems that breakfast keeps changing, so here's what was served in mid-July: coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, croissant or pain de chocolat, yogurt with granola. All superb quality. The location overlooking the canal is fantastic and absolutely the hotel's most special feature. Very fun to watch boats go by and hang out there at night. We had two serious issues, though: 1) The wifi didn't work at all in almost 2/3 of our room, and even though we brought it up with the staff multiple times, it wasn't resolved during our 5 day stay. 2) The cleaning staff seemed to use our room as a storage closet and would repeatedly knock on the door wanting to retrieve items like vacuum cleaners and comforters. Once a staff member knocked and, before we could open the door, walked straight into our room. That was of course really uncomfortable and we hope that the management will make changes to allow the doors to be locked from the inside.

Le Citizen was a great find! The location can't be beat...located next to the canal with many shopping and dining opportunites nearby...and three Metro stations within walking distance. The staff was friendly, and they served a quick breakfast each morning. The room was tiny, but very light and airy with a fantastic view of the canal and neighborhood...they even had air conditioning.

I’ve previously stayed at CitizenM hotels in other European cities and this one didn’t disappoint: clean, functional rooms with air conditioning. The design is carefully thought out, with a simple button to turn off all lights at night within easy reach of the bed. The staff in Paris are a real plus - super helpful and on the ball. The communal spaces are also cool - relaxed spaces to catch up on work and enjoy a drink. In particular, loved the view from the 16th floor lounge.

One of the friendliest hotels I’ve ever been to. Very modern. Very Clean. Amazing technology with everything set to tablet. Perfect size for short stays as it’s a tiny home style room. Easy access to CDG airport and transit. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed for a midweek in this charming hotel. Staff was amazing friendly and coffee and orangjuice very good. The neighborhood has lots to offer for vegans. Good vegetarian restaurants at the other site of the canal.

This is the perfect hotel for a short break in Paris. Overlooking the canal, it is walking distance from Gare du Nord and in a great position for visiting the sights. I have stayed in a small room each time which is perfectly equipped for such a small space. Everything has been thought of. Lovely breakfast included in the price and everything is spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff too. I have recommended this hotel to everyone. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Paris. Cant wait to go back

We had a wonderful visit in September, we stayed only 2 nights on our way through, but the staff and hotel were amazing. The breakfast was incredible, we arrived very early on check in day, they accommodated us and fed us the most delicious breakfast! Staff always had great recommendations. We would definitely stay again. Watching the Canal was so fun, and we felt close to everything! You can take a train from the airport almost directly there and staff provided great instruction.
