When we arrived at the hotel I was hopeful the pictures online hadn't done it justice and that it was going to be much nicer than I'd thought, because the lobby seemed so nice. Selected this property because we couldn't find availability at a B&B. Existing reviews very accurate -- rooms are small, clean, reasonably comfortable, simply furnished, with VERY limited storage space, ample hot water and a handheld shower fixture. My teenage daughter and I stayed at Hotel Americain for 4 nights mid July. The location was great, as it was very easy to walk to lots of places and if you didn't want to do that, the metro was minutes away with good connections. Stayed here for 4 nights in December 2007. The hotel is clean, with attractive common areas and is well-maintained. As said before, some rooms are pretty small - we had two single rooms, mine on the second floor was pretty tiny, but my friend's on the 6th was much more spacious, so it may be worth asking when you book.... more

This is a lovely little hotel near the Republique metro station. The room is tiny but when in Paris you don't really stay in the room. Group of 3 staying in 1 single and 1 twin room for 7 nights. We all enjoyed a delightful stay at the Americain - the hotel whilst undoubtedly quite basic nevertheless exceeded our expectations.
