We chose this hotel for it's views across the bay -it was lovelyas was the balcony on the sea. The room was bare bones - linoleum floor, white walls with not even a table in the room. With very little effort the room could be lovely. Being set into the hillside on the sea the access was down stairs, that... more

Located some 15 m above the Med, with a view both out to sea and of the harbor, the setting is superb. The rooms are meticulously maintained and clean, with the breakfast room looking out to the sea. Set on small flat areas of the seaside cliffs are several patios with longers and cocktail tables. Breakfasts are very well planned.... more

Hotel Les Caranques is a great hotel with awe-inspiring views of the ocean below. The colors at dawn and at dusk are indescribable, and it's easy to see why Matisse and Derain started the Fauvism movement here. The hotel is literally carved into a cliff, so the waves break directly below you, and you get a postcard view of Collioure,... more

Its position is wonderful, looking across the bay to the town, just a 10-15 minutes walk away. A few loungers and umbrellas strategically placed down on the rocky terraces. Simple, spartan rooms with good bathrooms and small balconys for the view, Adequate breakfast, no other food and no bar, nor reception for half the day and entry by key code.... more

this hotel was picked after reading other reviews - mostly accurate. Hotel is in superb location on the south side of the harbour in Collioure - a beautiful coastal town we hope to visit again. We booked 2 nights but found we had the worst room (Room 8 - check you don't get it). The best selling point of the... more

Stayed for 1 night with my wife. Tried our best to book over the phone, but my O-level French let me down at the critical point and the English-speaking owner had to be contacted. The hotel has its own parking, but this is very cramped and there is a danger of being boxed in if you need to use your... more

Stay here for the best view of Collioure, perched on the cliff at the edge of the bay. Rooms are spartan with a basic but efficient bathroom (good shower) and no other facilities. We had room 31, €100/night, with the best terrace and view. Seems good value for Collioure, which is an expensive place. Not as quiet as we had... more

The only downside to my stay was the steep stairway leading from the carpark to the hotel...o.k. for me, since I could leave suitcase in the car, bringing down overnight bag things (toiletries, clothing for the next day, etc.). But, somehow, this "inconvenience" only heightened my sense that the place was quiet, isolated. My room was "spartan," as others have... more

The view... the view! Collioure is a stunning village and this hotel has the most amazing views. Yes it's basic but it doesn't claim to be anything else - it is clean, simple, quiet and perfect for a relaxing break. more

We drove into Collioure and fell in love with the town. We had a list of hotels, including Les Caranques. It was low on my list because of its two star rating until I saw its incredibly beautiful location and stopped in to see a room. The rooms are clean and functional. The view from our terrace was stunning. The... more
