I travelled to Normandy with my mom who is 77. The hotel is lovely, clean (bathrooms are basic- tub/shower, thinnish towels) but the big issue was that there were steps leading up to lobby and 3 FLIGHTS OF STEPS TO Room 1. The lights are kept off in hallways unless you switch them on. If you have issues negotiating steps... more

The d’Argouges is a delightfully quiet and very peaceful 3* hotel, centrally located, and set back off the main road. First impressions were the courteous and friendly nature of all the staff together with the overall cleanliness of the hotel. We had booked a double superior room (# 5) and although very spacious by French standards, could have benefited from... more

I stayed two nights at hotel d'argouges with my husband where we had a wonderful stay. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Our room was very comfortable, large and beautifully decorated. The hotel is located in the centre of Bayeux so you can explore the town without moving the car from the hotel parking. We had breakfast on... more

Do not be fooled by the beautiful house on their website as the chance of staying in this house is remote. At first when checking in you are brought into this beautifully presented house, the interior is very striking and we were very much looking forward to our stay. We were brought back down the earth very quickly when we... more

Three friends ... where to stay? Two would be driving off to the WWII sites (close by) and I wanted to stay in town and see the Bayeux Tapestry and Cathedral. This hotel is a great location, right across from the market square, which is lively and fun on Sat mornings. It's deceptive, because from the street, you don't see... more

Here's the caveat: nowhere in our booking did it say that breakfast was/or was not included. After a long day of travel we arrived at the hotel -nice, fairly easy to check in, and were told "breakfast is from 6-10 (or whatever) and shown the breakfast room. Sounded as if it was included. In morning we got up early for... more

On arrival we pulled into the back of the hotel and parked and as soon as I got out of the car I knew I was in love with this place. Beautiful Ivy completely covering the back of the building and a beautiful garden area just a few feet away. We walked inside and were immediately greeted by Lora (I... more

We stayed in one of the apartments in this lovely hotel during our visit. The rooms were beautiful. The common rooms are incredibly restored and maintained. We loved the WWII photos displayed in the hotel. The flowers and gardens are beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic. We loved sitting in the back courtyard for a drink and snack before dinner. The service... more

Great little hotel in a beautiful old building. Gorgeous entrance with sweeping steps outside and it is just like stepping back in time into an elegant old house. Staff were lovely very relaxed and welcoming. The room was nice, it doesn't have all the added extras like robes etc that you get in luxurious hotels but then you're not paying... more

I cannot fault this hotel in any respect - from check in to check out our stay was absolutely perfect. Although relatively expensive, it is worth every penny and would not hesitate staying here again or recommending it to anyone. I am in my late 50's and have stayed at hundreds of hotels - this one is in my top... more
