Great locations and warm welcome but........ Room was very claustrophobic, bathroom extremely small, separate WC that was almost too small to sit down/stand up in (had to open the door!) and only a view of a brick wall from the window. Restaurant is definitely not recommended for British visitors. Restaurant staff were sulky, humourless, unresponsive and slow. (it took 30... more

Very nice hotel, but... Only a full size bed, no night stands (only 2 little boards attached to the wall), no dresser (1 drawer under the luggage rest). The bathroom had only 1 towel hook, so the towels didn't dry. Shower gel, tissues, etc. were never replenished (We stayed for 5 nights!). Breakfast was excellent, but expensive (13E. x person).... more

We used Best Western's book ahead to book this hotel. It appealed to us, but when the lady rang for us, there was only 1 night. We tried the other BW in Caen and it was the same. So we decided to take the 1 night here. It's vrey quirky, apparently built in an old abbey. The car park is... more

My wife and I stayed here with another couple and had a great time. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is great to get out and walk around town. We would stay here again. more

My wife and I spent one night at the hotel while touring the Normandy beaches. Hotel rate was good. Close to main section of Caen. We found the hotel to be very pleasant, nice dining room, and easy to navigate for 70 yr olds. Morning breakfast was excellent . Would recommend this hotel to our friends. more

The Best Western Le Dauphin is a lovely hotel right just a block from William the Conqueror's castle. The room was very bright and pleasant. The staff were very friendly, always willing to give advice about where to rent cars, where to park, and how to get where we needed to go. The whole place felt very cozy. The breakfast... more

Having read about the antique furnishings we were a little dissapointed. We had a room in a newer wing (with and elevator) with furnishings more typical of a newer mid grade 3 star hotel which this is, but the room was also larger, more like what we would expect in North America than Europe. The bathroom was clean and up... more

No parking spots available. Imagine having driven for 3+ hours to arrive at dusk with no parking. Then our room only had 1 bed when the reservation was for twin beds. They fixed that by giving us separate rooms which was fine. However these rooms were in the old building and there was no lift. I paid a kitchen boy... more

Pictures on web site deceptive. Shows castle like structure, Not this Hotel ! Exterior and reception area are beautiful , old world charm , lovely dining room. curved staircase with stone wall. However, this is a front ! We had room in new section, very plain. Met another couple from USA, staying in old section, they said their room was... more

Thank God we've spent just one night at Le Dauphine! The lady at the reception was rude, and although my reservation had stated in capital letters that I needed a no-smoking room due to severe breathing allergies, well ... she just ignored it ... and refused to give us a free upgrade. We were given a room at the 2nd... more
