Just come back from a fantastic weekend break, room warm and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly, the food great and the locals most inviting. The chef liked to come out and deliver various courses himself and check that everything was to your liking. We did not venture too far away from the Rye vicinity itself, but for a weekend... More

My husband and I recently spent a weekend at this Inn. We chose it for it's convenient location to Rye. On arrival we were greeted in the bar by Charlotte who was extremely welcoming - a lovely young lady. As our room wasn't ready we had a baguette in the bar - it was okay, very basic and I have... From 2 nights at the play den. No complaints at all very friendly welcoming staff. The food was great cooked by a chef who loved to come and talk to the diners. One couple on Friday ordered a curry and chef came and asked them how hot they wanted it. Little touches like this I like. Stayed in room 4... More

The Playden Oasts Hotel and public house, just north of Rye on the A268, is well worth the trip. Convenient for Rye, Ashford or even Canterbury this hotel has a charming quiet location in the english countryside. In the warm and cozy converted oast, complete with hanging dried hops in the three circular brick rooms, we enjoyed excellent hospitality from... More

We booked the hotel as a base for our jaunts around Rye and the surrounding area. At first glance, the oast houses and gardens didn't look great and the car par park had large pot-holes but it was March and we hardly expected full blooms and a green garden. Upon entering the Inn, we were greeted by a very friendly... More

The Playden Oasts exudes character with a capital C and that applies to the building and the owner Bob, and his staff. It is a very special and memorable place. The Oasts is my favourite bolthole in England. I have been going back again and again for 8 years now and more often than not I end up extending my... More

If you want trendy and minimalist don't go here, but if you want a quirky hotel, fantastic hospitality and great food, this hotel is 'perfick'. We had a round room, with a juliette balcony and a huge round bed. The hotel is in need of some TLC and the decor is dated but everyone was so friendly we felt immediately... More

I recently stayed at the Playden Oasts for my son's wedding and for £95 per night I was most disappointed with the room. The carpet needed a good shampoo, the shower curtain had pink algae around the bottom. Breakfasts were disappointing. No yohurt, no fresh fruit so had to buy my own. Orange juice watery. The fruit that was out... More

All comments relate to room 8 which is located in the annex adjacent to the kitchens, referred to as garden rooms elsewhere. This room was selected because my wife is disabled, we were using a small wheelchair but the angles of the approach made it impossible to use it to gain access. While small the room seemed at first glance... More
