Stayed for two nights during easter break and hotel kindly upgraded the room to a Ministerial Suite (sounded grand but goodness knows what the last "Minsiter" got up to as boy does it need a lick of paint and a new carpet)! That said, the hotel was in a great location in this really pretty town with loads to see... more

What can I say. I stayed here this weekend with my brother. Whilst the property itself is ok. Certainly no more than 2 star. The manager withheld the key from us on Saturday night because of a wine stain on a very cheap carpet. We were spoken to like errant children. They also took down my card details incorrectly. The... more

After reading the reviews of Residence de France we almost cancelled our booking for 3 nights in June but were pleased that we did not. We had booked a suite which was large, well decorated, clean and quiet. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and all they conversed with us in English. Although Le Residence is an 8 minute... more

In France, you expect that the price of the room comprizes everything? Wrong here: you paid for the room? You will get an unexpected taxe de sejour, a continental breakfast of less than average quality, and if you rented a car, you will have to pay for the car park! Better chose another place! more

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and booked a 2 persons studio résidence. The room was very small and the windows and curtains not clean at all. The bathroom was neat . Because the studio layed in the back, we had no problems with streetnoise , it was a quiet place at night. The bed isn't very big... more

when I phoned the hotel to book a room for our family of 4 for 3 days I was told that they had a non rated appartment room in the hotel complexe that was available, when we arrived it was a rather shabby set up with plastic curtains no tea or coffee facilities & after our first night we found... more

On the plus side, the hotel was well placed at northern end of shopping streets - 10 minutes walk to port and restaurants. The hotel generally was clearn, roomy and comfortable. However, there were a number of very negative points: We stayed in Room 23 for 3 nights in late August, It was unseasonably cold, which luckily meant that we could... more

Found this place by pure chance. Had flown over from Jersey for the weekend with my partner & another couple but had been unable to secure any accommodation for our stay. Our taxi driver proved very useful when he got his dispacher to book us this place. Arrived to find we had been given the penthouse suite with 2 bedrooms,2... more

Stayed here a couple of years ago - and vowed to return. We had a gorgeous room up in the eaves overlooking the narrow street at the front. Very contemporary and smart. Big bonus was the cool underground carpark - but the car was not needed - 3 nights is not enough to get bored with La Rochelle! Only problem... more
