Where else could you stay that has a glass floor in the lobby that allows you to look down into the Roman ruins beneath your feet? We enjoyed the gracious public spaces and our charming room that looked down into the terrace. Breakfast was generous and had a wide selection. Our only quibble was the hotel's policy that forbid us... more

Hotel D'Arlatan sits in the midst of the old town of Arles. It is historic in its own right - a former private mansion built over a portion of the 1st Century Roman baths. The public areas - formal salon, dining room and bar - are impressive in size and decoration. But our room needed serious maintenance attention. Both bathtub... more

We stayed here for three nights and booked this hotel on the basis that it was right in the middle of the old town and had a swimming pool. We were not disappointed with our choice although we were given a free room upgrade (not sure why) and so that may make us a bit biased. We did not take... more

My wife and I stayed in hotel d'Arlatan mid-August in room 1B. The hotel location is great in the middle of the old city (althoug it is difficult to drive there, once you're in, you do not need the car anymore). Upon arrival, the staff was not especially welcoming. Obviously they were full and did not care about another couple... more

This is a lovely little hotel. The building is old and wonderful. The rooms were clean and of a decent size. To me, the star of the place was the lovely courtyard with a fountain, and where you can take the excellent continental breakfast. Also very neat are the roman ruins under the hotel - visible via a glass floor... more

There's something rather nice about Arles. It attracts tons of tourists but doesn't get too flustered from the summer invasions, unlike some of it's neighbours. Our second visit to Arles brought us an evening with Cesária Évora at the Théâtre Antique and a reminiscent return to a tasty creperie 'Chez Mam Gaz' near the Arena, with a one-night stay at... more

This hotel is a must do! Originally the hotel was the home of one of the dukes of Burgundy and before that the romans built here. Part of the lobby floor is glass so you can see the roman ruins underneath. The room was large with a beautiful and spacious armoir and an elegant feel. There is a lovely courtyard... more

This is a special hotel that oozes history, old-world charm with a tranquil courtyard (and its three sunning turtles in the fountain) and trendy pool area nuzzled in between 16th C buildings with recessed lighting, and a fun location 150' from Van Gogh's Starry Night cafe. The bar and lounge area is large and the staff can attend to you... more

The reviews on this site as basically correct. This is a very quaint hotel located in the historical centre of Arles. We booked a larger room (for an additional 20 Euro) and it was a good size, overlooking the courtyard, which we loved. Bed and pillows were clean but I'm sorry to say quite uncomfortable. Bathroom was a good size... more
