We stayed here for a night on a three week road trip round France and Switzerland during August. Paid £77 by booking in advance on the internet (Octopus travel). It was OK and in a good location, but the htoel was a bit tired and run down. I suppose you would say it had 'character' and some people might like... more

Location is excellent, close to Gard de Avignon and shuttle bus station to Avignon TGV, good if you go there at night, however it took 15 mins to ville. The triple room is a bit small, but we dun have the bug problems mentioned by other reviewers. Lift and baggage room is available but no free Wifi services in room,... more

We had a hot, stuffy room that would not cool down even with the noisy AC unit. It smelled of bug spray and deodorizer. I woke up in the morning with bug bites on my legs, face and arms. When I complained the staff tried more bug spray, but it was not effective. The beds were not comfortable and I... more

The Bristol is a sub-standard hotel (I'd call it a motel). The beds weren't comfortable, the bathroom smelled kind of funny, and they have a bug problem! My husband woke up one morning with bug bites all over his body. I wore a long gown to bed so I was only bitten on my ankles. We think it was bed... more

Travelled with my cousin with Travel Editions. Buffet breakfasts good, no dinner available but plenty of restaurants just a short walk away. Room could have had a better view, but no other bad points. Bar closed early, but again, plenty more along the road. Hotel within the town walls, so close to everything. You could walk to the station for... more

This hotel's greatest asset is its location, on the main street inside the gates, near the local train station. It is a good base for walking around historic Avignon within the gates as well as near the train station for local trains. Also, the shuttle bus from the TGV train station stops just a block away. The room was large... more

The Bristol is in a great location, easy to walk to various sites, restaurants (these are the only positives). The hotel's brochure states that the rooms have been renovated and are sound proof. Our room had very damaged particle board furniture, dirty curtains, a worn out bedspread, tiles were falling off the bath surround, and the mattress was awful (it... more

Good location at the southern end of the main north/south road inside the walls. Convenient underground parking (extra charge) with attendant. Staff very polite and helpful/knowledgable. Rooms were adequatefor overnight accommodation, and decent value. Heating and cooling system took some getting used to ! Easy to walk from the hotel to the attractions/restaurants, while also easy to get out of... more

The little hotel that tries: I couldn't agree more with those posters who praise the location of The Bristol. It is wonderfully situated for exploring Avignon. We arrived by train from Paris and walked the easy 5 minutes from the station, through the walls of the city, down a wide, tree-shaded block to our hotel, where we were greeted warmly... more
