I had read about the Hotel Danieli in Rick Steves' books and I should have caught on when he didn't say much about the hotel. I will say the location was excellent. It is right on the main street just two blocks from the main square and Palace of the Popes. The staff was friendly, and though the rooms were... more

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights, 29th May-1st Jun to explore wonderful Avignon. The hotel is an old 17th century building, the operators are trying to improve it, but it was old and tired. The dining room has been done up and the entrance has been tidiedup, but carrying suitcases up 3 floors is a bit rich.... more

I only booked a room in this hotel because it was recommended by Rick Steves in his book. This hotel was extremely dirty, the entrance looked nice, but as soon as you left the main hailway and climbed the stairs to the room, it was dirty. The carpets are stained, the ceilings are dirty, the walls in the room are... more

The Danieli is an OK budget hotel in terms of room quality -- small bed (for two tall people), not all that comfortable -- but our room was clean if not well-lit. The location, however, is fantastic -- and even though it's on the main street, it's so set back behind double walls that it's quiet. The breakfast buffet was... more

First, everything in Avignon is beautifual and relaxing to me. And, the Hotel Danieli was a clean, extremely convenient and safe. That's all a solo female traveler on a budget can ask for. This hotel delivers. Here's what's bad: -The ceilings need major work - drop ceilings were falling apart in places -Would have been nice to have breakfast included... more

If you're a fan of polystyrene ceiling tiles, marshmallow mattresses, hardboard doors, cheap vinyl flooring and the all-pervasive smell of human waste, the Hotel Danielli is the place for you. Not to mention the early-morning deliveries to the department store next door, loud and lengthy enough to wake the dead. No, we did not enjoy the Hotel Danielli - and... more

A charming, centrally located small hotel in the heart of Avignon. It is on the main street which can get loud. Opt for a room not overlooking the street. The staff, unlike another poster, was very cordial and inviting to my sister and me. We spent time talking with Sarah and Jean-Paul, both of whom went out of their way... more

I stayed at the Danieli for 5 nights in June. The location is fantastic, right at the top of the main street into Avignon intra-muros. The reception staff is very friendly and helpful: they let me deposit all my exhibition gear in a spare room for the week-end after I left to be picked up by UPS!! The décor was... more

Very central location, helpful staff, accomodations were what we expected from the internet descriptions. We had a triple and double for a one night stay in Avignon. There were some issues with water leaking from a dehumidifier around windows, or so it seemed, but the staff tried to make amends. After 23hrs entrance is through the back door from a... more

The worst hotel experience we have ever had. Staff lost our reservation, twice, then charged us for a room we didn’t stay in. Basically, we were charged for two hotel rooms even though we only stayed in one. This seems incomprehensible to us, although maybe due to the staff not using computers for reservations. After an hour and a half... more
