Online pictures of this hotel indicated a renaissance-age building that had been reconditioned. Wrong. Reconditioning is underway - next door - leaving filth in front of the hotel itself. Hotel is filthy, too, with dark hallways, a teensy, worthless breakfast area, gaping tears in the curtains and a shower that was too nasty to use. Day staff is surly and... more

I have done a lot of travelling over the last fifty years or so and do not think I am fussy. To save a few pounds I can put up with indifferent staff, scruffy decor, dirty bed covers and foul smells as found in this Hotel but I have had a better nights sleep stretched out on the floor at... more

I think the hotel is fine for its price. I did not find it dirty or anything. Reading the criticism, I wonder what people are looking for. Sure, it is a bit run down. But nothing terrible. I've been in better places in Avignon (check the nearby Hotel Colbert), but I would not rule this one out. P.S. Especially ridiculous... more

Good things: - Spacious room - Central location (a very short walk from Avignon Central rail station. NB: This is NOT the same as the TGV station which is several minutes drive outside the city) - Opposite the Tourist Information office - They have a lift! Things that could be improved: - Aircon is a must in hot weather (it... more

Three of us stayed here for 2 nights and this cute hotel exceeded our expectation. We were located right on the main street and could people watch from our hotel window if we wanted. It is a very short walk from the Avignon Central train station, which is where we arrived from. But far from the Avignon TGV station, but... more

We stay at this hotel every year for a week, during the Avignon Festival in July. I accept that this may not be a typical period to stay in the city, but I find it difficult to reconcile our experience of the hotel with the reviews previously published. Ok, if you want air conditioning, large rooms and multichannel TV you... more

This hotel is one of those places where your experience is so bad that it turns out to be a funny story after you come home from vacation. Firstly, our trouble with this hotel began before we even arrived. While purporting to be 200 metres from the TGV station, we thought it would be an easy walk from the train... more

The room was small, clean, but the feeling of the hotel was discomforting for us. I guess it matters what one is willing to accept for the price. We were trying to be frugal but the trade off is steep these days: this was clearly a case of getting what we paid for, but nothing more. We were booked for... more

I understand that hotel rooms in France can be tiny and the room we stayed in qualified as tiny. I did not expect Four Seasons Hotel quality but this hotel was terrible. The shower did not drain so you had to make sure that the water did not come out of the shower basin as it is pretty shallow. The... more
