There may be both pros and cons (there's some truth to all reviews so far), but Lumani remains our favorite and most memorable stay of our entire trip to France. Your first impression may be of the spareness of the rooms - more a matter of aesthetics than comfort - especially if you've just come from a more traditional, well-upholstered... more

Our stay at Lumani with Elisabeth and Jean was wonderful. After a series of delays on airplanes we finally made it to Lumani. Walking in the doors was so welcoming and beautiful. Our room was very comfortable. Breakfast was incredible with all sorts of breads picked out by Jean who rides his bicycle around the city early int he morning... more

This romantic B&B provides a wonderful experience. I had difficulty navigating the Auvignon one way roads and Jean, the owner, met me and drove my car back to the hotel and a welcome beer. What a hotel. A 17th century building located next to the ancient ramparts. Inside the courtyard an oasis of peace. The rooms creatively designed to be... more

We could have stayed at Lumani for a month, let alone the 5 nights we were there. It really feels like a home-away-from-home, partly because Jean and Elisabeth, the hosts, are so warm and friendly. The room was spotless with an excellent bed and good shower, and it looked down onto the private courtyard/garden with its lovely fountain and sculptures.... more

My sister and I stayed at Lumani for 4 nights this past week, and it was a warm and welcome respite from the ferocious Le Mistral blowing through Provence. Jean and Elisabeth have opened their home and hearts to travelers from all over the world. They are both passionate about art and music and share their knowledge of places to... more

We could not have been more comfortable or felt more welcomed than at Lumani. Elisabeth and Jean made us feel like friends from the start. The conversation around the breakfast table (inside or in the garden) was entertaining and enlightening. The breakfast itself - with local fruit, either whole or in freshly made preserves, a variety of breads, and custom-made... more

I would also love to say the place was great like all the other reviews. But we need to be true to ourselves so that the service will improve. Sometimes when you're on the top, you need to WORK to stay on top. I hope the owners are actually reading this and take this as constructive criticism and not me... more

My new husband and I honeymooned in France, and Lumani was one of our favorite stops. A beautiful garden oasis, complete with hammocks and a gorgeous fountain, all surrounded by one of the most amazing tranquil gardens. Our hosts Jean and Elisabeth are wonderful people, with great recommendations on everything from where to eat, to where to travel on day... more

Lumani was a truly wonderful place for our stay in Avignon. You don't know what to expect as you approach the house, with its high outside walls, in typical Avignon style, but when you enter you are completely enchanted. It has a huge garden with beautiful old trees and hammocks that invite you to relax. The house itself is beautifully... more

A wonderful place to return to after a hot day's sightseeing in Avignon. The wooden doors to Lumani give little indication from the street of the superb house and courtyard behind them, lying just opposite the city ramparts. Trees, a fountain, sculptures all create a beautiful environment, and a big table for guests to breakfast around, or just drink a... more
