I was not expecting such a pleasant, relaxing stay as this in a one star hotel in Nice. I hardy ever try one stars, opting for cheaper two star places when I want somewhere cheap, and some previous experiences of one star hotels in France haven't been, well, much good.

I expected the most basic guest house type place. It is a simple hotel, but, unexpectedly, it's the kind of place where the word "minimalist" rather than "simple" or "sparse" is more appropriate, I think. Quite stylishly simple, in a category which means it is naturally really, really clean, so you can consider this place as better than most would expect for a one star. Again, I spent the first evening mostly being surprised, though there is nothing fancy here. It's just pleasant and reliable and really clean.

The bedspread could have been in a three or four star hotel, lovely, embroidered.
