I'll never get the smells out of my nose. Do not be fooled by the excellent location. This place is an odoriferous dump. Bad enough was the lobby, which smelled overpoweringly of floor cleaner. But this was nothing compared to my room, which literally reeked of old-man sweat and cigarette smoke. I mean, I've read about rooms like this in... more

we stayed at the "Acanthe" for 4 nights and were very happy to have chosen this hotel. it is right in the city centre, just 2 mins away from the main square Massena or the Palais de la Justice. you just need about 15 mins to walk to the trainstation and the beach is also just a few minutes away.... more

We stayed at the Acanthe for 3 nights, what a good find. OK so the rooms are tiny, but they have everything you want, wardrobe, desk and a large fan, which came in very useful. Again the bathroom was tiny, but there was always hot water and clean towels every day. The staff were very helpful, and spoke several languages.... more

The room was small (but this is typical for France) as too was the bathroom. But everything was clean and the towels were changed everyday. The staff were polite and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. An earlier reviewer mentioned a shared toilet - this was not the case for us! The location is ideal with everything nearby. The... more

Stayed five nights, booked hotel for the location and was not disappointed, ideally situated near the main squares and an easy walk to the old part of town with all the bars and restaurants and also the Promenade. We were initially allocated a very small room and unfortunatly the bathroom had a really unpleasent smell. They were unable to fix... more

The location was very good, & breakfast was included. As per most hotels the walls were thin. I was surprised that the WC was a shared facitlity in the hallway. The room did have its own shower & handbasin. The shower was tiny & i"m not sure how a large person would get on, & anyone else don't drop the... more

A good central, budget hotel, suitable for a short stay. No more than 3 nights, as everything is basic. Clean, servicable but basic. more

Besides its location as mentioned by other travellers in their reviews, I can't think of anything positive to say about this hotel and NOTHING would make me stay in that hotel again. I was so appauled by the state of it that I only stayed there one night after all. The room was tiny, and I mean tiny ... a... more

A basic and small hotel, yet in the most amazing location in the heart of old Nice. Close proximity to the markets, the beach, the shopping centres and restaurants. Trams and buses a pied! The staff are really friendly and the breakfast is excellent value. more
