Our experience at Hotel Vertigo was generally very good. The staff were extremely friendly and able to assist us in both English and French. We shared a double room, so I can't speak to the condition of the dorms, but for a hostel the room was small but decent, and relatively clean - the toilet unfortunately was letting of an... More

Nicely located within walking distance (5min) from Marseille main train station (Saint-Charles), the hostel is situated in a walking street, so no traffic noise (a luxury in the 3rd french biggest city!). We were 2 staying in a room we shared with 2 persons. The room is clean, has bathroom (shower) and toilet within (no need to cross a long... More

Very helpful staff that were eager to assist. It's located in a little alley across the road from Marseille Saint-Charles train station and is a 10-minute walk to Vieux Port and Le Panier. There are several eateries, and a boulangerie next door, making it fairly easy to get food. Our room was 212 (I think). Tiny, basic little room, with... More

Following uniformly excellent experiences in the south of france, the Hotel Vertigo was a shock to the system. The positives - the staff were very pleasant and keen to be helpful where possible. The negatives - oh so many! this is absolutely NOT a hotel, and even as a hostel its average! Added to that, at a price where most... More

The hostel is a very cute place, kept clean, and has a laid back environment. The cheap drinks are nice to avoid going to the sketchy bars scattered throughout Marseille. There is a kitchen to prepare meals if you're looking to save money, and a grocery store just up the road. Side note: If traveling to cities along the south... More

My boyfriend and I arrived into Marseille from Nice hoping to find a quieter and cheaper place to stay. We arrived at Hotel Vertigo planning to stay only two nights....we have now been here for a week! The location of the hostel is great- It is right accross the road from the main Bus/Train station and the Metro which link... More

If you are not fussy and returning to a decent room is not a priority, Vertigo will suit you. But I booked the allegedly deluxe double private room at Vieux Porte, only to realise I was staying at the Centre hostel which is just outside the St Charles train station... always somewhat dodgy areas all over Europe. The room was... More

We stayed a night in July in a dbl room. It was worth of money and even we got the last available room, the hotel was really quiet. Great thanks to the staff, which was really helpful and Spoke excellent English.

Having arrived late in Marseille after a long journey my friend and I wanted to relax on the first night and have a drink in the courtyard. It was past midnight and the lobby was now closed but we sat anyway for a drink outside, 5 minutes later we saw our first rat of the trip but didn't expect it... More

My experience at Hotel Vertigo was amazing, it's just the type of place you are looking for when planning a trip to the South of France. The decor was really young and hip, with vintage quirky finds decorating the lobby. The hotel also has great commons areas including a kitchen and outdoor terrace, although we didn't get a chance to... More
