Marseille is a very lived in city, and the hotel is in an excellent spot overlooking the Marina. Lots of prostitutes and tramps in the environs of the hotel, but that was part of the character of the city, and I didn't feel in danger at any point. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on my way back... more

I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. It was spotless, nicely renovated, the room was large, and it overlooked the Canebiere and the port. It had a nice long balcony that also overlooked. The room was bright and airy. The glazing on the windows was incredibly effective at blocking out the sounds from the lively street below. The... more

Don't let the exterior put you off - the Escale Oceania is lovely on the inside, but still has an older facade. It's been beautifully renovated, and the room was very large and pristine. We also had a great view from our balcony over the old port. When staying in Marseille, you probably want to be as close to the... more

this hotel is big on friendliness, service, and efficiency. Some hotels try hard and charge harder to be a boutique hotel, while places like this just genuinely are boutique! ive payed twice as much for lesser hotels. rooms small but excellent air con, cleanliness and lovely bathrooms more than made up for this. its location and view from balcony into... more

I stayed here during a weeklong academic conference in Marseille. Their website said that it was newly renovated, and they were right, The rooms were very nice and roomy, and even had a little balcony. The front desk people were helpful, and its in a great location next to the old port, and also the Marseille metro. more

I don't know what it was like before the refurbishment, but my room was spacious with modern decor and a tiny balcony with Old Port view. The location is perfect, although the entrance is a bit seedy with some of Marseille's homeless hanging around. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was great (10 euros). Free WiFi for 15 minutes per... more

Spot on location, right by the Metro, right on the Old Port. While the decor is very 80s and could do with updating, the room we had was a very good size and was clean. The staff were fine as I recall and at a rate of £58 per night in the middle of the summer we found nothing to... more

I have just returned from Marseille and spent 3 nights at the Mascotte. The location could not have been better, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. It is true that it needed new carpets, I think that tiles are nicer on floors in hotels anyway. The room had a view... more

On 18 Oct 2008, we stayed 1 night on the 5th floor in a pricy room with a balcony overlooking the port. Between 3 - 7 pm we went out to visit the cliffs and beaches leaving the room key at the reception. Thinking it was not safe to bring the valuables with us, I locked our ERUO and Canadian... more
