I did not actually choose this hotel myself ... someone must have had it in for me. The "Rome" part of the hotel must refer to Julius Caesar - he left his bed behind when he left here two thousand years ago! They still have it - and his pillows too! Careful with this bed - this relic does not... more

Booked this hotel for £53/night from hotels.com. I was looking for somewhere cheap and close to Saint Charles station to sleep only. The hotel is a ten min walk from the main train station just off the main La Canebiere street. The walk from the station was fine and well lit, as was the area where the hotel is located.... more

Easy walk from St. Charles train station in Marseille. It was in a bad part of Marseille. If you go to the hotel, STAY THERE. I was pick pocketed even being careful - stick your wallet IN your pants! The reception desk is one flight up, so don't take too much luggage! The staff was very nice. The room was... more

I was there for my job, so I did not choose or pay directly my room. I was in room 412 : 2 single beds on 4th floor. Goods : - a nice decoration : old style furniture, not fake - large room - hotel located in center town : very convenient - quiet good view : I could see... more

This cannot be rated as a three star hotel. It is extremely overpriced and would have been more reasonable at half the rate. Problems were: lumpy mattress, noisy, smells in both the room and lobby. You have to carry your luggage up the first flight of stairs before reaching reception, and when you do get the lift it is too... more

I am disappointed that hotels.com listed this as 3 star. The area is terribly noisy due to construction in the streets, so making business calls from the hotel room was not good. Also, the internet connection is 5 Euro an hour or 15 Euro for the whole day - WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. I do not recommend this hotel for business... more

We spent one night at this hotel and definitely felt it was not a 3 star hotel . It was noisy due to paper thin walls, construction in the area outside of the hotel, and in less than a favorable part of town. We witnessed a fight in the street outside of our hotel that the police were called to... more

Situated in a grimey area. Noisy as construction work going on in square. The area smells. I cannot see why it is 3 star rated. The lobby smells. Room functional. Breakfast was rubbish, for 9 euros. Much better to go to one of the caffs in the Vieux Port. I really like Marseilles, incidentally. more

As stated in another user review, why this hotel is rated 3 stars is beyond us. It is in a sleazy part of town, and is noisy and second rate. It is not terribly close to the train station, it does not have an airport shuttle (as advertised on its web site), and it looks nothing like the photo of... more

This hotel is also known as "Hotel de Rome et de Sainte Pierre". The biggest issue I had was the blatant misrepresentation of the place from what I read about it previously. It is not 3 stars and it is not 800 m from the train station. The walk from the station is at least 10 minutes, and I would... more
