Sharing a driveway with the Imperial Palace, Villa le Sud is just around the corner to the left. With 7 rooms in an old home, this bed and breakfast was a very nice place to stay. Our room, plus a large full bathroom (double sinks, toilet, and full bathtub/shower), was 45 euros a night. This was the most expensive room and the only one with a full, attached bathroom. The other rooms were priced at 20 and 35 euros.

The owner spoke excellent English, and though he was not there when we arrived, our key was waiting for us in the entryway. The breakfast, for 5 euros, appeared to consist of bread and jam, tea, and coffee in the main dining room, but we opted to walk to a bakery not far away instead.

Though Villa le Sud is in Annecy le Vieux, separate from the old town of Annecy, the pleasant 10 minute walk into town is along the lake and through the Champ de Mars park. The train station is a ~25-30 minute walk away. For those traveling by car, Villa le Sud offers gated... more
