have just spent a week at La Sapiniere with Esprit. We took the 'family adventure' option which meant we spent the week with our children (9 and 10) doing lots of different activities - rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking, hiking, moutain biking and more. the hotel has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The charm is that it is a bit... more

We have just returned from 1 weeks stay at the Hotel Sapiniere. The Manager Tom and his staff do their utmost to make your holiday a success. The food and service are excellent and the hotel is in a wonderful position near to the nursery slopes and you can access the Brevent /Flegere slopes by taking drag lifts and cable... more

The hotel location was excellent and the views from our room/balcony were amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was surprising good. Our room unfortunately was VERY tired with terrible furnishings (i'm sure not even a 'Rag-and-Bone' man would take the wardrobe) The main bathroom was ok (newish white suite) but the seperate toilet was pretty... more

This was our 2nd time at the Sapiniere and as has been noted in other reviews, this hotel is a little tired, although spotlessly clean (excellent room cleaning) but we thought that this 'tiredness' just adds to the character of the place. However, Tom the manager runs a superb ship here and his staff are absolutely fantastic. The hotel is... more

This hotel is run by Esprit Holidays. Whilst the hotel was basic and rather tired in places, it was clean and well-equipped. The friendly staff (all British) couldn't have been more helpful. The food was very good and wholesome (including the separate children's meals), just don't expect French gourmet. Contrary to a previous review, we really enjoyed the communal eating... more

The Sapiniere in Chamonix is well positioned, on a quiet road, about 10 minutes walk to the heart of the busy town centre. The hotel is attractive, with plenty of character, the original part of the building perhaps 70+ years old. The bar and dining areas on the ground floor are very light, relaxing areas with great views towards the... more

The photos don't make clear the road between it and the snow area, but the road isn't busy anyway. Hotel looks great from outside, nice neighbourhood, good parking space etc. Rooms are very basic with appalling fittings, including wardrobe doors hanging off in our room. Small rooms are just about ok for 2 but, with a child, it's hellish. Everything... more

If you read the previous review, you will realize that the hotel being criticized is actually in Quebec and not in France at all. I'm going to the Chamonix hotel next week but I can't allow the unfairness to stand. Will comment on my stay on return. more

The hotel was top class, you almost felt you were freinds with the staff and had known them for years. They go out of their way to help you get what you want. with the fantastic view of the slope for the kids to play on you can't go wrong. If you get worried about your children then they will... more
