This is a stale, over rated and over priced hotel, not worth even half the excessive cost. A most unpleasant experience. Low light levels and dark paintwork conceal dirt everywhere. Philippe Starck's impractical choice of grey plastic for the wash basins and baths doesn't make it easy for the cleaners do their work. So they don't. The manager obviously doesn't... more

We stayed for only one night in this hotel travelling from Swiss to Lyon and going back the second day. Staff were friendly enough but if you are driving your car to this hotel you got to watch out even if you are using a navigator. Stayed for 5 nights in room 36. Loved the superbly professional staff, the splendid breakfast buffet served until a very civilised 11am and the virtually private garden (accessed from our room). Okay, so this hotel isn't for everyone, as you will see by the mixed reviews. We stayed there on a 50th anniversary trip and loved it. It is based on the courtyard that is surrounded by four ancient apartment buildings. The glassed-in courtyard serves as the lobby and dining room. We got a mezzanine room (the cheapest, at 250 euros, breakfast not included). The room was small and hot (in May). There's no air conditioning. When we noted this, the receptionist indicated that there was a ventilator. She also said that those rooms are intended for single occupancy. Overall, the only positive thing was the spa.
