This is a very rustic hotel in traditional German style. You'll either love that or hate it. But the tables & artefacts from the hotel's days a a student inn will interest you even if you don't like the fussy decor in the rooms. The real charm of this hotel is their staff. Possibly the friendliest and most attentive we've... more

Great hotel! The room is amazing, with a bath-tub, and a reading space just there! Perfection in all details! It is just near the Phylosopher walk, across the bridge to the city town. Charming and romantic atmosphere! Perfect place to celebrate love and romance! The staff is so kind, welcome drink with sparkling wine, looking after all details. We have... more

We wanted a special Christmas Eve Dinner/experience. We booked the last room at Hotel Die Hirschgasse. After driving all day, we arrived in the late afternoon. Dressed in jeans, sweats, and not looking our best, we were treated as if were Royalty....and so went the rest of our stay. We recommend the Peking Double Room. With a lovely leather couch... more

This was one of my favorite hotels during my recent vacation to Germany. It’s a small luxury hotel with a lot of charm. The service was the best. They staff was very helpful and made us feel special by remembering our names and favorite food and drinks. The room was really large by European standards. The furniture was 20th century... more

Very upscale, clean, spacious. Reminded me of The Ritz-Carlton like accommodations. Nice location near Philosophers walk. A little bit of a walk to center of town. Not near any coffee shops so plan on eating an expensive in-hotel breakfast or do as we did and go for a long walk to town for your morning coffee. more

We booked this hotel partly based on the good reviews. After a two week trip through Europe, this hotel was one of the most expensive and the most disappointing. Staff was attentive but in an awkward way. The rooms were just okay but with peeling wall paper and non-functional taps. Further from town than we expected. more

My husband and I have just returned from Heidelberg and the Hirschgasse. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is by far the best service we have experienced in Germany. From the champagne at check-in, to the complimentary wine in our room, not to mention how friendly and thoughtful the staff was. We booked a large suite and... more

My sixth trip to Heidelberg and first time to actually stay here, but not my last. This is the hotel that was one of the original dueling sites for the young men in the colored corps caps. Suite 205 was at one point, part of the dueling room. This is where Mark Twain came to watch the student duels, described... more

The Hotel Die Hirschgasse in Heidelberg (a member of the group Small Luxury Hotels of the World) sits in a residential area,on a hillside, across the Neckar River from the main shopping areas and the Castle. The cab ride from the rail station is 10€, but the hotel is close enough to walk to the main shopping/dining areas just over... more

This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere. In the most picturesque setting, only a 5 minute walk along the river to the center of Heidelberg. The staff was fabulous. I have never met a more helpful, generous group of people. The restaurant staff were friendly, fun and served a most delicious breakfast, although expensive, it was... more
