If you're looking for an easy short stay in Heidelberg, then you could do a lot worse than the Am Schloss. Easy parking in the adjoining multi-story car park. Great location a few steps from the main restaurant and shopping area. Simple, basic rooms. Internet access for 5 euro per day. Good simple continental breakfast included. more
The view and location are great. At first I was turned off by the fact that the hotel was above a parking garage and the funicular. The curb appeal isn't great but don't let that stop you. What a great place! We stayed for 3 days, basing our travel from there. Stayed in Room #1, one of the 1st Three rooms above Breakfast Area, and with windows looking right up into castle. Base of Stairs down a couple levels goes to either Foot or Stair Paths up to castle, recommend incline up, stairs back down! Funicular Incline... more
Hotel am Schloss is on the top of a parking garage. Although this may sound odd, its location on the top this particular parking garage gives it an outstanding view looking up to the Heidelberg Castle. It also is handy for parking a car.
