I stayed at 1000+ hotels. I would surely return to this one: good value for money, clean, helpfull and knowledgeable personnel. Hotel is a bit outdated (old design, bathrooms are a bit worndown but very clean, no safe in room). Large underground parking (expensive, small spaces), 30+ minutes walk from downtown. We arrived late, the airlines having lost our luggage - but the concierge more than made up for our misfortune by sending bath robes, slippers, tooth brush and toothpaste to our rooms. Very nice people - kind attentive - and interested. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. More

The hotel is a short walk from the scenic Neckar River and a tramride away from the center. Our room had excellent views of Heidelberg Castle. The room was large, modern and comfortable. We sampled some local cuisine at their Globetrotter restaurant. Overall a nice value for money option and a good base to explore the area. More

The Marriott Heidelberg is located on the Neckar River with a nice view, but is a couple miles from the old city. As a Marriott platinum elite member, I have a good sense of this chain's room quality, including international properties. The Heidelberg Marriott has very comfortable rooms for the price paid. Staff I encountered were personable and VERY helpful, using well spoken English. For example, they can sell you tokens for the Heidelberg bus OR trolley service to the "historic" area.... More

This is a category 5 Marriott which seems over-qualified - although the pricing reflects its category, and the rooms are nice, it still rates as a middle-level Marriott, and its location quite far from the centre makes it inconvenient for tourists to Heidelberg.
