My family and I have stayed at the Hansa Hotel on four separate occasions and would never think of staying anywhere else in Stuttgart. Of all the hotels I stayed in Germany, this was probably the worst. It wont be an exaggeration to say that the ship cabins are probably bigger than the rooms at Hansa. As other reviewers found, the rooms are a bit small basic -- 1950/60s decor, but the breakfast is very good (I had apfelkuchen with my cornflakes!) For €55 midweek, including breakfast, you really can't go wrong. more

Very reasonable and perfectly pleasant hotel about 20 mins walk from the centre of Stuttagrt. Breakfast good. Rooms quite small - not unlike cabins on a ship, which would be in keeping with the hotel's nautical theme - but clean with comfy beds. Reception service is slooooooow! more

It's easy to get to this hotel from the main train/bus station in Stutgart. Since 2006, you can buy a "Kurzstrecke" (short distance) ticket on the U-bahn for € 1 (about £0.70), which will allow you to go 3 stops within the same zone.
