We went to Nuremberg for the World Cup, but could not find reasonably priced accomodations in the city so we went a bit further afield (about 40km) and stayed at Hotel Riesengebirge. The hotel was a real gem- the hotel is large enough to accomodate small conferences, but has a country appeal. The staff was very helpful, there was a small bowling alley downstairs, a restaurant, a beer garden, and internet access. If you have a room on the front street, be aware that you make wake up to the sound of cars driving over the cobblestones, or if not, the church bells are bound to wake you up. We would also highly recommend that you have a car if you are going to stay here. The nearest train station is a town away and you will have to take a taxi, or perhaps, an infrequent bus to get back to the hotel.
