We stayed at the Gasthaus Maria Gern on May 31, 2008. We had been there before on three occassions during the past ten years. This site (trip advisor) shows the rates as being about 57 euros, but we were charged 100 Euros, $166.00 at the exchange rate we purchased our Euros. Our room was lovely -- comfortable, clean and up to date, with a spectacular view of mountains, the church, and lush green hillsides. It's worth paying extra for a balcony. We had a wonderful stay at the Maria Gern for three nights. The location of the hotel is outside the town of Berchtesgaden but well worth the beautiful scenery. The breakfast was very good.
