The Wallis is a nice 3 star--no frills, but with a fantastic breakfast. The staff is friendly. The rooms are a decent size, by European standards and are clean. The location is convenient in that you are close to the main train station with easy access to Marienplatz but at night the neighborhood becomes seedy, with prostitutes, drunks and drug... more

pros: great breakfast buffet, very centrally located, walking distance to train station and city center. we had one of the older (bavarian style) rooms but it was still nice & clean. con: the hotel is located ona street with a few strange characters and establishments but it seemed to be a safe area nonetheless. overall: location beats it all! more

We spent a VERY cold weekend in Munich to see the Christmas markets. This hotel is 5 minutes walk from the glockenspiel, metro and centre of munich. We made this our "home base" as we traveled in and out of Munich. It's only a couple blocks from the main train station, in an area surrounded by peep shows and casinos (but that didn't bother us).
