This is a charming hotel next to the Englische Garten, the main park in Munich. The trick is to stay in the main building, which is pre war and has very nice spacious rooms. There is a second building down the street, where overflow guests are accomodated. That building is more modern but lacks ambience. The hotel serves a delicious... more

This was a wonderful Inn for my short stay in Munich for Oktoberfest 2009. My room (#15) was clean, and had a sink , TV, telephone and comfortable beds, but was small. The guests were mixed between American and Germans, and I heard that some other rooms were much larger. I did not have a private bath but never had... more

The hotel is located on the edge of Englischer Garten. The U-bahn is a 7-minute walk from the hotel and the Marienplatz is only 4 stops away. The English-speaking staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We stayed in room #10 which was a large room with many windows furnished nicely with some antiques. The bed... more

We always stay in the old part of hotels even if they have newer rooms, you can stay at a Marriott or 4 Seasons anywhere in the US, Europe seems to me to be about the history and culture. We had a huge room, our own bath and there is a fantastic pub that serves good German food just across... more

We were initially nervous about staying here, as it was explained to us that we would not have our own WC and that we would need to descend two levels to use the showering facilities, but our concerns were immediately assuaged when we saw the hotel. We travelled to Munich by ICE train, so we arrived at the Hauptbahnhof and... more

My husband and I stayed in one of the apartments just down the street from the actual guest house. We were there during Oktoberfest so there weren't many other options. The room was ok but not very comfortable. I wouldn't stay in apartment complex again... more

We stayed in Munich for only two nights, both at the Englisher Garten. Although we wanted to stay in the main house, alas, there was no room, so we spent our stay in the annex, located just a few steps away. The rooms (we had two) were very similar, with bath (smallish), kitchen (just fine), balcony (looked upon the grassy... more

When we walked into our room at this hotel, I was shocked. My dorm room in college was better than this-chipped furniture with many, many water stains on the surfaces, threadbare carpet, cheap towels and shampoo and bathing soap all rolled into one. But the worst thing was the toilet experience. When we arrived, I noticed hair and a crusty... more

If you don't need to be right in the central hub, and appreciate peace, quiet and green, then this is an excellent choice. I had a huge room. It felt like a suite as it had its own lounge area and dining table, but I don't think it was being advertised as a suite. It's rather old-fashioned and quaint, which... more

My wife and I (early 30s) stayed here in our last leg of a four stop, 18day european trip (Vienna-Venice-Bellagio-Munich) in April 06. The hotel was almost everything the other reviews and pictures represent. A small B&B like experience next to the English Garden. The room was clean and everything worked fine. Staff was fine. However the hotel didn't really... more
